Irby McKnight Joins SAGU Team
Rev. Irby McKnight has been hired as the SAGU Planned Giving Director. McKnight begins work on August 1, and will be available at General Council to discuss Planned Giving options.
Irby McKnight has served as the pastor of Harvest Time A/G in Sherman, Texas, since December of 1991. Under his leadership, this “Decade of Harvest” church has grown from 50 to 600 in average attendance. Harvest Time is known as a missions outreach church, sending several of its members into the mission field and generously supporting missions worldwide with their finances and prayers.
McKnight serves on the SAGU Board of Regents. He is also the Alumni President, Secretary of the Commission of Finances for Teen Challenge of Dallas, Vice-Chairman of the Plano section of the A/G Committee Texoma Rehabilitation Committee, and also serves on the Wilson N. Jones Hospital Board of Ethics and Habitat for Humanity. Within the Assemblies of God, McKnight has served as the Assistant DYD for North Texas and on the national youth board, the national and district Youth Alive committee, the North Texas Missions Committee, and the Church Growth and Planning Committee.
An alumnus of SAGU who graduated with a degree in Pastoral Ministries in 1980, Irby has a great love for SAGU. In his four years as alumni president, McKnight helped recruit students and built alumni relationships.
McKnight says, “It is an honor for me to serve our Lord by helping promote the future of SAGU.”
Of Irby, Carl Alexander said, “Having Irby join our team is a major milestone in the Foundation’s 20-year history. We are confident that his professionalism and sincere desire to help the University, its students, and its supporters in the area of financial planning will be well received.”
