The SAGU Board of Regents has approved the recommendation for Rev. Irby McKnight to fill the position of Vice President for University Advancement.  The position became open in January when Mike Robertson resigned to accept the pastorate of a large church in California.

Besides the primary responsibilities for university relations and fundraising, this position is an administrative liaison to the Alumni Association, Southwestern Foundation, Women's Auxiliary, and the Board's Commission on Finance and Development.

McKnight joined the SAGU staff this past summer as the Planned Giving Director.  In just six months, he has orchestrated a number of planned gifts for the university totaling several million dollars.  Irby is a SAGU alumnus and former president of the Alumni Association.  He pastored Harvest Time Assembly of God in Sherman, Texas, prior to coming to SAGU as a staff member.  McKnight has been well received by the SAGU campus family and constituency.  According to President Bridges, “If you haven't had the opportunity to get acquainted with [Irby McKnight], then you are going to greatly appreciate his spirit and heart for the school and our fellowship.”
