Late Monday night, the Red River Conference named Lady Lion Chelsea Jones of the SAGU Basketball team Player of the Week.  Wednesday afternoon, the National Christian College Athletic Association did the same.  This marks the first time this year that a SAGU Basketball Athlete has won a conference player of the week award and a national award for the same week.

Jones, Freshman Forward for SAGU, had a big week for the Lady Lions where they won an important game against Texas College to move them into position to make the conference tournament for the first time in six seasons. Over the two wins, Jones combined for 37 points and 24 rebounds, not only achieving a double-double in both games, but also averaging a double-double per game this week, 18.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per game. Over the week, Jones also collected seven assists, made 12 of 17 free throws and hit 5 of 9 three-pointers.

The Lady Lions return to action on Monday night in Austin, Texas, to play Huston-Tillotson in their regular season finale.  Starting March 6th, the Lady Lions will play in the Red River Conference Tournament.
