![]() Amberlie (Mash) Middleton is originally from Ennis, Texas, and came to SAGU in 2000 after being inspired by Coach Vaughn. She thought of herself as an entrepreneur with desires to start her own business and entered the business program at SAGU. Amberlie was a cheerleader for two years and later coached the squad. She also helped manage the basketball team and was involved in SIFE. After graduating from SAGU in 2003, Amberlie taught business in a high school for a year before deciding she wanted to teach children. She is currently teaching at Mary Orr Intermediate School, where she uses her background in accounting and finance to teach 5th grade math. Amberlie loves the children and feels accomplished pouring into their young lives. According to Amberlie, “I would love to own a day spa or salon someday, but that’s not where God wants me right now; He has me with these kids.” SAGU contributed to Amberlie becoming a well-round individual, able to be a good role model for her students. She incorporates ethics into her classroom from principles she learned while at SAGU. “My time at SAGU helped shape who I am now,” Amberlie commented. “I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” Amberlie has been married to SAGU alumnus Shane Middleton for three years. As a wellness specialist, Shane counsels and sets up exercise activities for elderly individuals. The couple has a two-year-old son named Peyton and the Middletons attend Mansfield Church of God. |
