During the mornings, the Lions taught basketball clinics at the Alpha and Omega schools to students ranging from five to eighteen years old. The times of skill instruction were followed by a member of the SAGU team leading a devotional time, with subjects such as Setting Goals for Life and Knowing Christ as Your Savior. Lions spent the afternoons ministering though kids crusades, which were held in parks or slum areas. The SAGU athletes played music and games and also performed puppet shows and dramas. At every service, Pastor Montoya’s short sermon was followed by 25-30 children accepting Christ as their Savior. The team to Mexico included coaches Arlon Beadles & Jacob Rodriguez, Jaroy Carpenter, and athletes Heather Jefferson, Ka’Tina Green, Rachel Harris, Cari Benson, Chelsea Jones, Nicole Linen and Mallory Allen. According to Coach Beadles, “The team grew in the Lord, and was blessed to help these wonderful children and adults of Mexico.” |
