Joseph Hartman, Assistant Dean for the SAGU School of Distance Education, spoke at the Texas Distance Learning Association Annual Conference. The event was held at Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, March 24-28. The Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA) is a non-profit association that promotes the development and application of all forms of distance learning in order to implement effective distance learning strategies for Texans and other distance learning practitioners of the global community. TxDLA is the leading Texas membership association for distance learning professionals. Its membership is composed of public and private education institutions at all levels as well as corporate training professionals and distance learning equipment and content providers. Hartman’s session was entitled “Increasing Student Enrollment with Distance Learning Technology” and dealt with how SAGU has been using Tegrity technology to improve the quality of its Distance Education program. This effective implementation has contributed to a steady increase in SAGU’s School of Distance Education. According t o Hartman, “With programs at many schools the students are simply given a textbook and a syllabus for the semester. SAGU instead integrates resources, lectures, and online student interaction to provide a well-rounded academic experience.” |
