Video Interview with Scott Camp : Click Here to Play Scott Camp was recently hired as the new SAGU Dean of Students, a position to which Camp brings a wealth of experience. He has served in a variety of capacities since entering vocational ministry in 1982, including student pastor, evangelist, church planter, adjunct professor (Criswell College; Christ for the Nations Institute) and Dean of Students (Criswell College). Camp has traveled extensively throughout the United States preaching at local churches and city-wide crusades and conferences. He has been featured as a program guest with the Billy Graham Crusade, and over 50,000 people have responded to the gospel under his ministry. He has ministered to international audiences in person as well as via television and radio broadcasts. According to Vice President for Student Services Terry Phipps, “Camp has a unique blend of life experiences that provide him with a powerful and relevant ministry to students.” Scott grew up in a broken home and his own drug and alcohol abuse led to his arrest as a high school student. While incarcerated, Scott committed his life to following Christ and was called to preach shortly thereafter. In addition to serving as the Dean of Students, Scott is the founder and Senior pastor of the Fellowship of Joy, an A/G congregation in Grand Prairie, Texas. The church began in January of 2004 and its current attendance exceeds 800 persons, primarily new converts. Dean Scott Camp expects a revival on the SAGU campus and a greater hunger among students. As Dean of Students, he desires to be a facilitator in heightening the spiritual climate, especially through dorm devotions. “I’m a real people person,” said Camp. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students and building relationships with them.” Camp holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Criswell College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In 2007, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida. Scott married his wife, Gina, in 1988 and they have four children: Sarah (17), Dillon (13), Joshua (10), and Madison (7). Gina is the Director of Music and Fine Arts at Advantage Academy located on the FOJ campus. Gina is also a featured vocalist and worship leader at various conferences. |
