Two SAGU faculty members taught workshops at the A/G National Children’s Ministry Conference. Over 700 people attended the conference in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Organized by the A/G Children’s Ministry Agency, the purpose of the conference is to reach, refresh, and train children's ministry volunteers and professionals throughout the Assemblies of God. SAGU Children and Family Ministries professor Dr. Darren Daugherty taught workshops on "Helping Children Grieve Well After Loss," "Inspiring Parents to Fulfill Their Call," and "The 'Why' and 'How' of Effective Family Ministries," while new SAGU adjunct faculty member Joy Headley taught the "Partner with Parents to Spiritually Train Children" and "Diversity Enhances Family Ministry" workshops. In addition, the SAGU School of Distance offered a special half-price course entitled “Leadership of Children and Family Ministry” at the conference that featured Ministry Specialist Jim Wideman. The class time for the course was fulfilled by attending workshops and general sessions. The coursework will be fulfilled through SAGU’s Distance Education format as a summer course. At lease ten students who attended the conference are enrolling in the course, which is offered as both graduate and undergraduate credit. According to Dr. Daugherty, “our visibility helped us gain much interest in SAGU’s new Master's degree in Children and Family Ministries.” One of SAGU’s traveling ministry groups, Ransomed, ministered in two services at the conference and Dr. Daugherty brought three students with him to the conference. SAGU representatives also showed the SAGU promotional film “What’s Your Story?” |
