Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball Texas Wesleyan University

Game One (L 2-1)

Despite the Lady Rams outhitting SAGU 12-5, the Lady Lions were able to keep the game very close and even sent it into extra innings.

TWU put a run across in the top of the second after a SAGU error.  The Lady Lions answered in the bottom of the fourth. Destinee Vindiola got things started with a single to right field.  Next, Kristin Stringer doubled to left field, scoring Vindiola.

At the end of regulation, the score was tied 1-1.

Because of the international tie breaker, TWU started with Demi Dotson on second base.  Dotson quickly made it to third after Lauren Gunter laid down a bunt.  Next, Lauren Wernet singled to right field, scoring Dotson.

SAGU got the same start as TWU. Adrianna Barnes made it to third after Rieanha Cano hit a sacrifice bunt.  Next, Baylee McBrannon reached base after a TWU error.  With two on base, Ashley Nop grounded out to short and TWU was able to turn a double play to end the game.

Ashley Nop went two for four at the plate. Kristin Stringer went one for three, with one RBI and a double.

Rachel Ray pitched all eight innings for SAGU. Brittany Rosenberry pitched the entire game for TWU.

Game Two (L 8-1)

SAGU had a difficult time getting anything started at the plate in the second game.  They scored their only run in the bottom of the sixth.  In the sixth, SAGU’s Destinee Vindiola singled to right field and was able to score after Kayla Milstead doubled to deep left.  SAGU unfortunately stranded two on base.

Hannah Lee started on the mound for SAGU and pitched three and one/thirds inning. Rachel Ray came in relief.

TWU’s Justine Cielenski picked up the win for TWU.

SAGU’s Kayla Milstead picked up a double for SAGU, and went one for two at the plate with one RBI.

The Lady Lions will take a quick break from Sooner Athletic Conference play when they host Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday, March 23, 2017.  Game one of the doubleheader begins at 2pm.
