Waxahachie, Texas – October 19, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team dropped another close game, this time against Mid-America Christian University (MACU). The final score was 2-1. The Lions are still looking for their first win in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). MACU is now 1-5 in the SAC.
The Lions were quick to score. In the 5 th minute, Isai Bonilla placed the ball in the back of the net off a pass from Herberth Gomez. The score remained 1-0 until MACU’s Caleb Roldan scored in the final minute of the first half.
The game stayed tied at one for the first 25 minutes of the second half. MACU’s Roldan was able to score again off a rebound from a save by Juan Solis. The second goal was all the Evangels needed to take the 2-1 victory.
SAGU has three more chances for a SAC victory. On Saturday, October 22, 2016, the Lions will travel to play St. Gregory’s University at 3pm. SGU is currently 0-6 in the SAC.
