In the final regular season game of the year, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team lost in Arkansas at John Brown University 1-7. The score was 0-2 at halftime as goalie Jose Ladoriel had four saves to keep the game in reach.

The game remained 0-2 until the 63rd minute when the Eagles scored five straight goals then the Lions scored with 13 seconds left on the clock. The Eagles were led by Micah Herrmann and Ryan Williams who both had two goals. Defender, Santiago Vanegas had four assists in the 90 minutes of gameplay for JBU.

The Lions lone goal was by forward Mazvita Chidarara for his tenth of the season and 16th of his career. As the season comes to an end the Lions rank 13th in the nation with 115 total saves, 23rd with 3.170 goals allowed per game, and 33rd with 6.390 saves per game. Ladoriel is 21st in saves per game and 36th with 81 total saves for SAGU. Forward, Heriberto Diaz is ranked tenth with 18 total goals, 12th with 41 total points, 14th with 1.000 goals per game, and 23rd with 2.280 points per game.

The Lions finished with an overall record of 6-11-1 and 3-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference . This is five more wins than last season and lands them three spots higher in the SAC.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
