Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumnus David Crowson recently created Churchly , an online platform specifically purposed for churches to help improve online communication and more importantly, connect with online visitors.
Churchly provides access to a growing library of fully designed church website templates, multi-step marketing funnels, popups and much more.
Unlike most other web development tools, Churchly is distinct in its core function: church communication. “It was built by pastors for pastors,” says Crowson. “We’re different from other web builders like Wix or Squarespace in that all of our templates are designed with churches in mind.”
Every website, marketing funnel, or popup comes complete with pre-written copy and images that can be easily edited with its simple drag-and-drop builder. Users also get the benefit of a support team who understand church and ministry which is something they won’t find with other website builders.
Churchly was created out of a true passion to see churches utilize online web communication more effectively. Crowson says that he is most excited to be seeing churches use landing pages and multi-step marketing funnels to communicate clearly and, as a result, reach more people for Jesus.
“This type of online communication is something the business world has been doing for years and it is time the church started embracing this communication strategy to more clearly communicate to their communities.”
For the last few months, Crowson and his team have been personally inviting churches to try out Churchly and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. “Churches are loving that all of the ‘hard work’ has already been done for them which saves them countless hours of headaches and time they could be spending pastoring their people,” he says.
The idea for Churchly was birthed out of a conversation with Crowson’s friend who is also an entrepreneur in the church space. “We were talking about how churches use online communication and how ineffective the traditional church website is at really marketing specific events and other communications.”
Crowson himself was born and raised in ministry with his father serving in ministerial roles from youth pastor to lead pastor. In addition to his role at Churchly, Crowson serves as Worship Pastor at Real Church in Tomball, Texas , where his father, David Crowson Sr., serves as Lead Pastor.
Crowson graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Church Music and associate’s degree in Communication Arts.
“My time at SAGU was incredibly transformational for my life. The professors God blessed me with helped to shape me and offered so much wisdom and direction. The relationships and friendships I made while at SAGU are still helping to propel me forward into the future God has for me, and they are without a doubt the number one blessing I received while enrolled as a student.”
As Churchly continues to thrive and grow in its popularity, Crowson is looking forward to developing more features to offer even more practical and efficient ways of online communication.
“We’re really excited that our platform has a ‘CRM’, which we call Engage, built in which gives you the ability to view contacts who have filled out forms across your website and landing pages. In the future, you’ll be able to communicate directly with your contacts within Engage, which is really exciting.”
