WAXAHACHIE, TX – The Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) voted recently to reaffirm Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s (SAGU’s) accreditation for the upcoming 10 years.
SACSCOC is the accrediting agency for all universities and colleges in the southern region. An extensive preparation for 10-year reaffirmation process includes many months of data collection and organization, countless hours of work on the part of many faculty and staff, and ultimately an on-site visit by members of the SACSCOC team this past spring.

SAGU President Dr. Kermit Bridges, in an email to the SAGU faculty and staff, shared the news and said, “This is unprecedented territory for SAGU. Much appreciation to Dr. Kim James [Trewern] and the Accreditation Team. Kim’s leadership in steering us through this process has been exemplary! Much appreciation to Dr. Uglow and the QEP Team – incredible work! This was truly a campus-wide accomplishment with so many contributors. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. God’s hand and favor on us in this outcome are so apparent. Thanks to all who prayed earnestly. To Him be the glory!”
“SAGU’s 10-year reaffirmation approval from SACSCOC signifies that the institution follows regional accreditation standards in every department and in every program of the University, remarked SAGU’s Vice President for IE, Dr. Kimberly Trewern, “Such a successful reaffirmation with recognition by our peers demonstrates the excellence with which every member of the campus community works. Since the committee approved SAGU’s report with zero recommendations, the University will not have to spend time or resources to address issues in follow-up reports, nor will we need to submit any monitoring reports in the future. What a joy it is to work with other excellent educators who make compliance with accreditation a reality!”
