Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology
Our kinesiology program emphasizes good stewardship of our bodies through a blend of physical motion and science. While studying at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, you’ll take exercise, nutrition, and sports management courses to prepare you for a meaningful career based in exercise science and human movement. Spiritual practice and scientifically proven methodology are interwoven in every class, meaning that when you graduate, you will be ready to serve others with knowledge and care.
You will take core classes focused on Biblical teachings to ensure you gain a solid spiritual foundation. Some of these classes include Authentic Christianity and Intro to Biblical Literature. As part of your major studies, you’ll take sport law and ethics, weight training, and sport psychology, all taught with Biblical integration.
Why Major in Kinesiology at SAGU?
Real-World Experience and Resources
At SAGU, you’ll receive a comprehensive education that balances theory and practical application rooted in Biblical teaching. You will gain a deep understanding of the human body and its functions by getting hands-on experience in courses such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, and medical terminology. Additionally, you’ll be able to apply this knowledge in real-world scenarios by completing a semester-long internship, where you can develop skills further. During this internship, you’ll learn about athletic training, rehabilitation, and fitness coaching through a hands-on approach, allowing you to become a well-rounded professional. With both classroom and practical experience, you’ll be equipped to excel in your future career and impact the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
The SAGU Difference
As you step onto our campus (which was recently ranked by Niche as the safest college campus in Texas), you’ll find that you get more than just an education at SAGU. Our Christian faculty members will become your mentors, helping you practically apply a Spirit-filled approach to exercise science. Along with your studies, you’ll find a supportive community of like-minded individuals who may one day become life-long friends and colleagues.
