Waxahachie, Texas- December 15, 2015- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball topped Arlington Baptist College on Monday evening.  The Lions topped the Patriots 91-71.

Coach Donnie Bostwick is most impressed with SAGU’s outside shot against ABC, “We played really good team defense the first half which led to some great looks in transition. Hitting 13 threes in a half might be a SAGU record. It was a solid performance and a great team effort!”

At halftime the Lions scored an impressive 51 points compared to Arlington Baptist’s 26 points.  In the second half, ABC was able to outscore the Lions 45-40, but it wasn’t enough to top SAGU.

As a team SAGU shot 50% from the three point line, going 17 of 34. Keyunta Watkins was five of nine.

Junior Watkins also led SAGU in scoring overall.  Watkins had 18 points.  Senior Rishaad Alexander had 12 points and six assists. Isaak Rowe added 10 points and six rebounds.  Senior Emmanuel Adoyi added nine rebounds for the Lions.

Now, SAGU sets their sights on hosting the Holiday Classic on December 17-18, 2015.  Bostwick is looking forward to all facets of the Classic, “The Classic coming up will be a great experience. Great competition, great teams, proven coaches, but most of all four teams focused on bringing Christ glory on the court.”

On December 17, 2015, SAGU will host Vanguard (7-1) at 7:30.  On Friday, December 18, 2015, the Lions will play Evangel (1-9) at 7:30pm.
