As a worship leadership major at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, you’ll take musical study and pastoral leadership courses to prepare for your calling. Real-World Experience and Resources
The worship leadership bachelor’s degree provides many opportunities to grow and practice your worship and leadership skills. You’ll take two leadership internship courses to get real-life experience as a church leader. Serve at a local church or ministry to provide pastoral care or lead worship. Your internship supervisor and professors will help you build your confidence as you walk in your calling.
The College of Bible and Church Ministry hosts a yearly apologetics seminar to equip students to follow the Great Commission. By attending this program, you’ll learn how to defend the gospel and communicate truth to others in love. Be prepared to spread the good news of the kingdom of God.
SAGU also hosts annual credentialing days to connect worship leadership students with Assemblies of God district officials. They will meet with you and answer questions about the processes and responsibilities of receiving your pastoral credentials. We typically have district officials from Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Louisiana join us.

What You’ll Learn in the Worship Leadership Degree Program
In the worship leadership curriculum, you’ll receive a solid foundation in biblical studies, leadership, and musical expertise.
General Education Studies
You’ll complete 55 hours of general education studies for a well-rounded college education. These courses will give you the speaking, writing, and critical thinking skills you need to communicate and solve problems in your future vocation. Your general education studies courses will also include performing in an on-campus ensemble and attending recitals. Ensembles can include jazz ensemble, string ensemble, and chapel worship.
You’ll also take 18 hours of biblical studies courses. Classes include:

Major Studies
Develop your musical and leadership skills with your coursework as a worship leadership major. You’ll take lessons in your primary instrument (voice, guitar, piano, trumpet, etc.) and perform in a senior recital. You’ll also complete music courses in:
