State Grants
Residents of Texas
Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)
Description
TEG is a need-based state grant. In order to be eligible, students must be full-time Texas residents, meet certain financial need and academic requirements, not be a ministry major pursuing a degree program that leads to a career in church work, and must not receive an athletic scholarship. For more information, please visit the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board TEG website .
Annual Amount
Maximum award is $3,000 for the year. Funding is very limited. Not all Texas residents will be eligible and some eligible students will not receive TEG because of limited funds.
Application
Students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA by March 1 so that SAGU can determine eligibility for TEG. In addition, all TEG recipients must complete a Texas Residency Form which can be found on the Financial Aid Forms page .
Residents of Other States
Residents from a state other than Texas should visit their state’s higher education website to determine if your state offers financial aid for their residents. Find out if your state will allow you to use any of their state grants if you enroll at SAGU (a private university located outside of your state).
