Waxahachie, Texas – February 14, 2017- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball player, Rachel Ray , is enjoying successful start to her 2017 season.  The junior from Brazoria, Texas has been named as the NCCAA Softball Student-Athlete of the Week as well as the Sooner Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

For the second week in a row, Ray has earned the national NCCAA Softball Student-Athlete of the Week award

“This is a big honor for Rachel and for our program,” exclaims SAGU Head Coach Sarah Harman , “I’m impressed with the mental approach she takes each game.  This award also shows how good of a catcher she has in Kristin Stringer behind the plate calling her pitches.  They both work well together on their game plan against lineups.”

Up next for Ray and the softball team, Kansas Wesleyan.  The will host KWU in a four-game homestand Friday and Saturday, February 16-17, 2017.  Currently, Kansas Wesleyan is a perfect 4-0.
