Senior libero Emmalee Smith officially became SAGU’s career leader in digs after having a season-high of 26 digs against John Brown University (JBU). Smith broke the record in the third set, making the play on an impressive hit by JBU.
“Being the all-time leader in digs is something I am very excited about it. I have been working towards breaking the record all season. Breaking this record is the biggest thing in my volleyball career,” says Smith.
On a night that honored Smith’s mom’s battle with Colon Cancer, Smith had an impressive game. Four other players had double digit digs; Shaw had 19, freshman Celi Bruce added 18, senior Caitlin Paschall had 16 and senior Katie Ryan added 11.
